Process isolation procedures - Definitions
Long-term isolation - Isolation that persists after the operation permit has been cancelled and is recorded as "long-term isolation".
Absolute process isolation:
Disconnect equipment to be isolated from all potential hazard sources, e.g. remove a section of pipe and install a blind flange.
Insert a non-perforated blind with a handle, a line blind or an eyeglass blind to a specification that retains the influence of the line's design pressure and temperature, that is, to block the flow of fluid.
Process isolation procedures - Definitions
Double valve isolation: close the two partition valves on the line and drain the medium in the pipe section between the two valves, for which the valve shall be designed.
Blind plate: Physical obstruction of fluid. The design characteristics are the same as those of the equipment, devices and systems into which the blind is to be inserted. Such as: no hole blind with handle, eye blind or pipeline blind.
Quarantine certificate: Record in one file all quarantines required to safely perform a task. The control and use of quarantine certificates are described in the work permit procedure.
